etienne krähenbühl was born october 1953 in vevey, and he lives and works into his studio in romainmôtier, switzerland.
he studied in lausanne at école des beau-arts 1969-1971, switzerland.
he went to paris (france) and to barcelone (espagne) 1971 - 1972, to improve his fine arts studies.
he became member of the "spsas" (1994) and of "l'oeuvre" (1995).

etienne krähenbühl was able to create in his studio works currently consecrated to the idea of the unpredictable, that's the idea "of the fickleness of existence" which reveals the absurdity that abides in all of us at certain moments in our lives.
in his sculptures he seeks the distance required to express himself through the recreational, the contrasting and the interactive aspects, in order to maintain a dialogue with the public necessary to sustain his particular approach.

he uses material which is close to his heart in its contrasting states: empty/full, polished/corroded, supplel/rigid. ln order to express these dichotomies, he explores the behavior of matter in two ways:

one way starts with the effects of time and water on iron, steel and even paper.

the other is dependent on the memory ingrained in the formation of matter like super elastic alloys of nickel-titanium.

this pathetic but fascinating quality which transforms matter when exposed to the external elements underlines our human condition.
and  the miracle of the memory of form and elasticity inscribed within, defies eternity in our quest to immortalize our artistic expression.
